It can feel overwhelming at start, so using a curriculum as a guide can be a good place to start. However, don't feel like you need to stick to it - be prepared to adapt to what you find works best for you and your student. The Education and Training Foundation has produced curricula for each level of English (Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1, Level 2) which you can access here.
Here are some resources you can use to study English yourself and reinforce what you are doing in lessons:
Make flashcards to practise vocabulary for free.
Learn English through music.
BBC Learning English
Resources such as quizzes and online worksheets.
